Alberto Rue, Senior, Men's Basketball

Alberto Rue is a senior guard and co-captain for the Monks Basketball team, which is off to a 6-1 start to the 2009-10 campaign. He fills an integral role for the Royal Blue as one of the team's top bench threats, and is averaging 9.3 points and 3.3 rebounds, and 23.1 minutes per game, through seven contests. Rue certainly will be an important player for the Monks as they look to defend their GNAC crown this season.

Head Coach Robert Sanicola '99:

Alberto has matured athletically, academically, and socially since his time began on "The Lake" nearly four years ago. Alberto continues to impress the coaching staff with his leadership on and off the court. He continues to improve and wants to be a well rounded individual. Alberto is constantly looking for ways to challenge himself to make him a better student, teammate - and most importantly, brother and son.

Alberto's tremendous support at home has guided him to be the person he is today. He does not have to look far to find the dedication and commitment to make the right choices. We all know Alberto is going to be a very successful young man. With that said, we are fortunate to have Alberto as a part of our basketball program, athletic
department, and campus community. We continue to expect big things out of
"Cuqui," as he still has a lot to accomplish in his life.

I don't think of them as superstitions, but before every game the last song I listen to is "Beach Chair" by Jay-z, I eat some gummi bears from Ray, and I say the Our Father prayer and a prayer to my grandmother.
