Alberto Rue, Senior, Men's Basketball

Alberto Rue is a senior guard and co-captain for the Monks Basketball team, which is off to a 6-1 start to the 2009-10 campaign. He fills an integral role for the Royal Blue as one of the team's top bench threats, and is averaging 9.3 points and 3.3 rebounds, and 23.1 minutes per game, through seven contests. Rue certainly will be an important player for the Monks as they look to defend their GNAC crown this season.
Head Coach Robert Sanicola '99:
Alberto has matured athletically, academically, and socially since his time began on "The Lake" nearly four years ago. Alberto continues to impress the coaching staff with his leadership on and off the court. He continues to improve and wants to be a well rounded individual. Alberto is constantly looking for ways to challenge himself to make him a better student, teammate - and most importantly, brother and son.
Alberto's tremendous support at home has guided him to be the
person he is today. He does not have to look far to find the
dedication and commitment to make the right choices. We all know
Alberto is going to be a very successful young man. With that said,
we are fortunate to have Alberto as a part of our basketball
program, athletic
department, and campus community. We continue to expect big things
out of
"Cuqui," as he still has a lot to accomplish in his life.

Why did you choose Saint Joseph's College?
My best friend was going here while I was attending Westfield

story short, I ended up here a week into school.

Michael Jordan, just to see how it feels to be the
Greatest.
What is on your "Bucket List?"
Travel to Europe, go skydiving, go on a cruise around the
Caribbean.
Talent you'd most like to have:
I wish I could sing. As far as basketball talents I wish I could
have a jumpshot like Larry Bird, skills like Kobe Bryant, defensive

Vince Carter, and get numbers like Wilt Chamberlain.
What do you drive?
A pair of Nikes, because I don't have a car.
What is your motto?
"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one
has reached in life... as by the obstacles which he has overcome
while trying to succeed" _ Booker T. Washington
Do you have any superstitions before you go into a big
game?
I don't think of them as superstitions, but before every game
the last song I listen to is "Beach Chair" by Jay-z, I eat some
gummi bears from Ray, and I say the Our Father prayer and a prayer
to my grandmother.
What is your most memorable moment as an athlete at
SJC?
My most memorable moment is winning the GNAC championship last
year. Having the whole school come down to support us, winning on a
buzzer beater, and the joy of helping the seniors leave with a
championship.
Who has had the greatest impact on your life?
My parents. Raising me to become the person I am today. Without
their guidance, who knows how I would have ended up. Best parents
in the world.
Can you tell us something about you that most people don't

Most people do not know that I attended another college for the

CT.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully in five years I will be working for a big company down
in Boston in their financial department.

Martin Luther King Jr. He help changed the lives of all

The most ideal day away from athletics is being able to just

What are your personal and team goals for this
season?
Team Goals: Repeat winning the GNACs and winning a game in the
