BIDDEFORD, ME – Saint Joseph's (3-1, 1-0 NAC) suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of University of New England (2-2) in a non-conference field hockey contest on Wednesday evening.

Offensive chances were limited throughout the contest, as the Nor'easters finished with twice as many shots (6) as the Monks. UNE sophomore Erin Bibber (Charlton, Mass.) knocked in the fourth shot of the game for the hosts in the 32nd minute, converting a rebound at the left post.

It took the Nor'easters a little less than eight minutes into the second period to double the margin, when sophomore Hannah Warren (Harrison, Maine) drove home on the left side off a pass from junior Hannah Tavella (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) at the 42:38 mark.

UNE sophomore keeper Kaitlyn Warren (Boscawen, N.H.) only needed to make a pair of stops to register the shutout for the hosts. For the Monks, senior Taylor Allison (Pawtucket, R.I.) recorded one save on the evening. Bibber's marker in the first half snapped a 296:55 stretch during which Allison – who returned to the field hockey program this fall after three years away from the team - succeeded in not allowing a goal.

With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 2-8 in the history of the series with University of New England. Seven of the Monks' eight losses to the Nor'easters have come by way of the shutout.  

Saint Joseph's returns home to face Simmons College in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Sunday at 12:00 PM. UNE begins Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday versus Western New England University in a 3:30 PM start.
