2010 Women's Soccer Captains Announced

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's Women's Soccer Head Coach Michael Bolanz '00 has announced his team captains for the 2010 campaign.
For the second year in a row, Mikayla Call '11 (Portland, ME/McAuley) will fill the captaincy role. The senior forward will be joined by defender Shannon Fitzgerald '12 (Amesbury, MA), who has also been selected to serve as a captain next fall.
Call, a three-time First Team All-GNAC selection, heads into her senior campaign within striking distance of virtually every career offensive record. Through three seasons, she has netted 34 goals and 19 assists for 87 career points. The program career records are 45 goals (Cindy Kamszik '97), 27 assists (Kathy Britton '93) and 115 points (Britton).
Fitzgerald, an All-GNAC First Team honoree last fall, posted a fine season as the backbone of the Monks' defense and was recognized for her efforts with the 2009 GNAC Defender of the Year accolade. She started all 20 games for St. Joe's last season and tallied her first NCAA goal against Simmons College on September 7th.
Saint Joseph's captured the program's first GNAC regular season crown in 2009 after posting a 9-1-2 record in conference contests and playing to a 12-6-2 tilt overall.
