SJC Track and Field Compete in the “Jerry Gravel” Classic

WESTFIELD, MA – The Monks Track and Field squad competed in the "Jerry Gravel" Classic at Westfield State University yesterday in Westfield, Massachusetts.

Peyton Dostie '15 (Standish, Maine) led the Monks in the long jump competition placing 3rd of 22 participants (4.98m), 6th of 32 competitors in the 100 meter dash (13.13), and 7th in the 200 meter dash (26.93). Shannon Chisholm '14 (Stoughton, Mass.) placed 28th in the shot put competition (6.69m), and 35th in the discus throw (13.22m).

The Monks also saw contributions from Sarah Bakun '14 (Clinton, Mass.) who paced the Monks in the 400 meter dash placing 26th (1:17:17), teammate Misha Leister '14 (Weymouth, Mass.) who placed 27th in the 400 (1:33:52), Audrey Curry '15 (Curry, Maine) who placed 35th in the 800 meter run (2:45:89), and Lauren Tidd '13 (Walpole, Mass.), placed 47th in the 800 (3:12:41).

For the men, Jack LaFreniere '13 (Alton, N.H.) led the squad with two top 10 finishes in both the 100 meter dash (9th, 11.52), and the 200 meter dash (10th, 23.28). Jeff Merrill '15 (Fitchburg, Mass.) placed 50th in the 800 meter dash (2:27:87). Robert Travers '15 (Lebanon, Maine) finished 34th in the discus throw (15.65m), and placed 31st in the shot put competition (6.78m), ahead of teammate Tyler Libby '15 (Clifton, Maine), who finished 32nd (6.75m).
