SJC Cross Country Course

Originally built in the late 1980’s, the cross country course was redesigned in 2006 by cross country coach Tom Dann. The course is built within the woods of the campus and offers many challenging obstacles. It has many different routes, which create two different courses for the men and woman. Also, included in the trail, is “Monks Misery”, known by many as the most challenging part of the course, which goes around Lakeside field and has many hard turns and steep hills that challenge even the most skilled runner.

Features more than five miles of scenic, interconnected stone dust trails winding throughout its beautiful campus. Extensively renovated over the past two years, the trail system provides a safe, smooth, and competitive running surface for student-athletes while also serving as a welcoming recreational space for the campus and surrounding community.

Redesigned in 2025, the cross country course serves as the home of the Runnin’ Monks Cross Country program. The course offers a picturesque setting for training and competition and proudly hosts the annual Coach Dann Runnin’ Monks Classic, welcoming collegiate teams and spectators to campus each fall.
