Monks compete at Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College Men's and Women's Track teams made their way down to Fitchburg State for the Jim Sheehan Memorial Track Meet. Southern Maine took first in both the Men and Women's team scores with the Men topping off the day with 121.5 points and the ladies with 205 points. 

Senior Hammer Thrower, Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass) etched her name in the record books by launching the Hammer for a school record throw of 35.72m.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Junior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) placed second in the 100-Meter Hurdles (16.35), third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.05), and fourth in the Long Jump (4.88m), 
  • Freshman Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) took fourth in the 100-meter Hurdles with a time of 19.04 and finished 22nd in the 100-meter dash clocking in at a 14.43
  • Senior Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.) saved the best for last as she finished her day breaking the school record in the Hammer with a mark of 35.72m (fifth place). Moulton also threw Shot put with an 8.48 mark for 14th and collected a mark of 24.12 in Discus for 20th
  • Senior Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) placed fifth overall in the 1500-meter run clocking in at 5:26.62
  • Freshman Alexia Young (Rochester, N.H) placed seventh in the 400-meter dash with a personal best of 1:04.64 and finished the day with a 13th-place finish in the 200-meter dash (29.01)
  • Sophomore Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) had a day and shaved nearly a minute off of her 5000-meter run time crossing the finish line in 24:34.51 placing seventh overall

 

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Senior Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) was runner-up in the High Jump with his jump of 1.90m, and placed eighth in the Triple Jump with an 11.81m mark. Abbott also placed 15th in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.61m
  • Freshman Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) placed fifth in 200-meter Dash with a mark of 22.87 and sprinted in for an 11.57 in the 100-meter Dash ranking 12th
  • Grad Student Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) placed seventh overall in the 3000-meter Steeplechase with a 10:59 finish and tenth in the 5000-meter run clocking in at 16:39.21
  • Junior Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) placed ninth overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.08 and also competed in the 100-meter Dash placing 13th overall with a time of 11.58
  • Senior Devin Abbott (South Berwick, Maine) doubled in the 1500-meter run (4:23) and 5000 meter-run (16:53) placing eighth and 11th respectively
  • Carmosino, Grant, Sungubele, and Graham paced out a third-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay for a time of 9:52.80
  • Ricker, Farr, Batoosingh, and Tardif clocked in a 46.65 4x100-meter relay for sixth

Saint Joseph's stays put next weekend as they host the Monks Invitational in a two-day meet on April 14th and 15th
