NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Saint Joseph's College of Maine men's cross country team captured the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship on Saturday afternoon at Norwich University, securing the title with 44 points and an average team time of 28:20. The championship marks the second GNAC title in program history and the Monks' first since 2023.
"Couldn't be prouder of this group. The men rallied when it mattered most, running for each other every step of the way. Seniors
Jacob Pelletier and
Alexey Seredin set the tone from start to finish — true leaders that have left an incredible mark on this program." said Head Coach Mike Burleson.
NEED TO KNOW:
Saint Joseph's entered the 2025 championship coming off a runner-up finish last season. With experienced leadership and a strengthened core, the Monks rose to the moment, placing four runners inside the top 12 to edge Norwich by just two points in one of the closest finishes in GNAC championship history.
Seniors
Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) and
Alexey Seredin (Peaks Island, Maine), both members of the 2023 GNAC Championship team, led the way once again, finishing third and fourth overall, respectively.
THE RUNDOWN:
Saint Joseph's and Norwich battled stride-for-stride through the front half of the race, but strong positioning from the Monks' second and third scoring waves ultimately secured the win. Emmanuel placed third, followed by Lasell and Regis rounding out the top five.
