Monks Athletics Joins Nationwide Celebration of NCAA Division III Week

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College of Maine Athletics is proud to join institutions and conferences from across the country in celebrating NCAA Division III Week, which runs from Monday, April 6 through Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Division III Week serves as a chance to recognize and celebrate the impact that athletics and student-athletes have on campus and throughout the surrounding community. The annual observance highlights the values that make the Division III experience unique, while creating greater awareness and understanding of Division III athletics.

Throughout the week, Division III institutions and conference offices are encouraged to participate in outreach efforts that fall into one of three categories: academic accomplishment, athletic experience, and leadership/community service/campus involvement. The initiative is designed to showcase the well-rounded student-athlete experience and the meaningful role athletics plays in higher education.

At Saint Joseph's, Division III Week is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication, leadership, and accomplishments of Monk student-athletes, both in competition and beyond it. Whether in the classroom, in the community, or on the playing surface, Saint Joseph's student-athletes continue to represent the values of Division III with pride.

Division III Week is a strategic initiative built on unity and shared purpose, bringing institutions together to promote the Division III philosophy and the full collegiate experience it provides. At Saint Joseph's College, that means recognizing the commitment of student-athletes who strive for excellence academically, athletically, and personally.

Saint Joseph's College Athletics will highlight Division III Week throughout the week across its platforms, celebrating the stories and experiences that define what it means to be a Division III student-athlete.

ABOUT: NCAA Division III Week is a celebration of outstanding student-athletes. Division III Week is an opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution or conference to recognize the powerful impact of athletics and student-athletes on the campus and surrounding community.

ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENT: In Division III, we realize the classroom is the primary setting for preparing student-athletes. However, Division III also understands academics are more than just GPAs, test scores and majors; it is a comprehensive learning experience that develops successful leaders and professionals.

ATHLETIC EXPERIENCE: Passion and sportsmanship are attributes of the "athlete" in the Division III "student-athlete" paradigm. The "athlete" plays for the love of the game, strives for excellence in all facets of life and perseveres through adversity. So, during Division III Week, celebrate the athletic component of our identity – a true homage to the symbiotic relationship of athletics and higher education.

LEADERSHIP/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Citizenship and responsibility are Division III attributes. Student-athletes "giving back" adds to the comprehensive learning component of Division III Week, while providing a venue for passion and service.
