Saint Joseph's College Opens National Search for Inaugural Women's Flag Football Head Coach

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College of Maine has opened a national search for the inaugural head coach of its women's flag football program.

Earlier this month, Saint Joseph's announced the addition of women's flag football as its 21st varsity sport, becoming the first collegiate institution in the State of Maine to sponsor the sport at the NCAA varsity level. Competition is scheduled to begin in Spring 2028.

The head coach will be responsible for building the program from the ground up and overseeing all aspects of team operations, including recruiting, student-athlete development, practice planning, game management, and program administration.

"This is a rare opportunity to build a program from day one," said Co-Director of Athletics Will Sanborn. "We're looking for a leader who is passionate about the growth of women's flag football and excited to establish a strong foundation for long-term success at Saint Joseph's."

The position is a full-time, 11-month appointment and will play a central role in shaping the future of one of the College's newest varsity programs. During the coming academic year, Saint Joseph's will focus on staffing, recruiting, scheduling, and community engagement efforts in preparation for the program's inaugural season.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree and demonstrate knowledge of the sport and applicable rules. Previous coaching and recruiting experience is preferred.Applications are being accepted through the College's employment website.
