Overview:

Mike Burleson was named Director of Track & Field and Cross Country and Head Coach of Track & Field at Saint Joseph's College in August 2023 after joining the coaching staff as an assistant earlier that year. In August 2025, he also assumed the role of Head Cross Country Coach.

In his first season with the Monks, Burleson spearheaded a recruiting effort that produced the largest freshman class in program history and guided the men's indoor and outdoor track & field teams to the program's first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships.

As Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, Burleson oversees all aspects of the men's and women's cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field programs.

2025-26 Season

Burleson guided Saint Joseph's to one of the most successful all-around years in program history in 2025-26, highlighted by GNAC championships for men's cross country and men's indoor and outdoor track & field, along with record-setting runner-up finishes for the women's indoor and outdoor track & field programs.

The men's cross country team captured its second GNAC Championship in three seasons, edging Norwich by two points, while Jacob Pelletier, Alexey Seredin, Isaac Keresey, and Michael Clarke earned All-GNAC honors. On the women's side, Saint Joseph's placed third at the GNAC Championship, with freshman Amber Pendleton earning GNAC Rookie of the Year and First Team All-GNAC honors alongside Haley Williams and Meghan Cyr.

The men's indoor track & field team claimed its fourth consecutive GNAC title with 215 points and nine event victories, while the women recorded the best conference finish in program history by placing second with 156 points. Outdoors, the men won their fourth straight GNAC Championship with 233 points, with Keresey earning GNAC Track Athlete of the Meet honors and Matthew Corriveau setting a school record in the long jump. The women capped the year with another program-best runner-up finish, scoring a program-record 198 points.

2024-25 Season

Saint Joseph's continued its rapid rise under Burleson during the 2024-25 campaign, with the men's indoor and outdoor track & field teams both capturing their third consecutive GNAC championships and several programs establishing new standards for conference performance.

The men's cross country team finished second at the GNAC Championship with 57 points, led by First Team All-GNAC honoree Jacob Pelletier and Second Team selections Alexey Seredin and Ryan Graham. The women's cross country team placed ninth, with freshman Haley Williams earning First Team All-GNAC honors after finishing sixth overall.

Indoors, the men's team won the GNAC Championship with 234 points and 10 event titles, while also setting four school records. Event champions included Abdirizak Abukar, Haytham Ramadan, Jacob Pelletier, Jacob Schmader, Isaac Keresey, Matthew Corriveau, and the 4x400-meter relay. The women's indoor team posted the best finish in program history at the time, placing third with 66 points behind conference titles from Audrey Bilodeau and Ellie Leech.

Outdoors, the men's team delivered a dominant championship performance with a program-record 316 points, sweeping all track events and winning 16 event championships. The women's outdoor team placed third with a program-record 146 points, highlighted by GNAC titles from Ava Smart, Audrey Bilodeau, Ellie Leech, and the 4x400-meter relay.

2023-24 Season

Burleson's first full year leading the combined track & field and cross country programs produced immediate historic results, including the first GNAC Championship in men's cross country program history and repeat conference titles for the men's indoor and outdoor track & field teams.

The men's cross country team captured its first-ever GNAC Championship with 44 points, marking the program's first conference title and first championship since winning the 1987 NCAA New England Regional Championship. Jacob Pelletier was named GNAC Runner and Rookie of the Year, while four Monks earned All-GNAC honors. The women's cross country team finished eighth at the GNAC Championship, led by freshman Ava Moffett.

The men's indoor track & field team repeated as GNAC champions with a conference-record 244 points, winning 11 of 16 events and producing 26 podium finishes. The women's indoor team placed fourth, with Brooklyn Goff capturing GNAC titles in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump.

Outdoors, the men's team repeated as GNAC champions with a conference-record 283 points, winning 15 of 21 events while producing 30 podium finishes and five school records. The women's outdoor team placed third with 129 points, highlighted by GNAC championships from Audrey Bilodeau, Brooklyn Goff, Alexia Young, and Abby O'Brien.
