Corey McCarthy returned to Saint Joseph’s College in June 2025 as Director of Athletics for Communication & Marketing after serving as Associate Commissioner of the North Atlantic Conference during the 2024–25 academic year.
McCarthy originally joined the Monks’ staff in 2004 as an assistant baseball coach and transitioned to athletics administration in 2007. He was named Sports Information Director that fall, eventually rising to Assistant Director of Athletics in 2015 and Associate Director in 2020. Over two decades at SJC, McCarthy has overseen communications and game operations for 22 varsity programs, led the redesign of the athletics website, developed a comprehensive record book, and helped make SJC a regional leader in live streaming.
He created a successful student internship program, guided rebranding efforts, and contributed to the launch of several varsity sports, including alpine skiing and indoor/outdoor track & field. He also chairs the Athletics Hall of Fame committee and hosts the “Monks Take” podcast.
Beyond the College, McCarthy is a member of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and co-directs the Maine College Baseball & Softball Association, promoting DIII student-athletes across the state.
A native of Inkster, North Dakota, McCarthy holds a B.S. in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy. As a coach, he helped lead the Monks to three NAC and four GNAC baseball titles. His accolades include three GNAC Sports Information Director of the Year awards (2009, 2014, 2019) and three Father John Tokaz Awards for outstanding service to SJC athletics.
McCarthy lives in Steep Falls, Maine with his wife Katie, his son Cameron, and daughter Avery.
