Overview:
Lydia Dexter was named as the head coach of the Monks' women's lacrosse program in September of 2024. In one season as head coach, Dexter has led the Monks to an overall record of 12-6 (.667) with a 9-2 (.818) record in conference play.

2025: In her first season as the Monks' head coach, Dexter led the Monks to a record of 12-6 with a 9-2 record in GNAC play to claim the #3N seed in the GNAC Tournament. In the GNAC Quarterfinals, the Monks bested the #2S seed Lasell University on the road 17-5. The Monks' season came to an end against the eventual champions, Emmanuel College, in the GNAC Semifinals (4-9). After the season ended, senior attacker Mackenzie Siebert (Naples, Maine) was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive season. Senior midfielder Shauna Clark (Oakland, Maine) and freshman defender Ava Molineaux (Rowley, Mass.) were listed on the Second Team. Junior attacker Celia Melanson (Waterford, Maine) and junior defender Alexis Copp (New Durham, N.H.) earned Third Team honors.

St. Joseph's College is thrilled to announce the hiring of Lydia Dexter '21 as the new Head Coach for the Women's Lacrosse program. A native of Oakland, Maine, Dexter brings an impressive track record of both playing and coaching experience to the Monks.
Dexter joins St. Joe's from Connecticut College, where she served as an assistant coach for the 2023-24 season. In this role, she was integral in recruiting, conducting individual and group training sessions, and managing team operations, including social media and alumni outreach. Her coaching career began at the high school and club levels, where she developed a reputation for her ability to mentor young athletes and foster their growth on and off the field.
As a player, Dexter was a standout at Saint Joseph's College of Maine, where she made history as the first women's lacrosse player in the program to earn back-to-back Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Offensive Player of the Year honors. She also became the all-time leader in points (375), assists (161), and points per game (5.77), leaving an indelible mark on the program.
During her time at SJC, Dexter led the team to a 16-4 record in her senior season, earning All-GNAC First Team honors and ranking among the top players in NCAA Division III in multiple statistical categories. Her leadership on the field was matched by her commitment to the team's success, as she helped guide the Monks to a GNAC Championship in 2022.
Dexter's passion for lacrosse extends beyond her playing career. She has coached at various levels, including as an assistant at Lake Region High School and as a coach with Maineiax Lacrosse Club. Her experience working with athletes from youth to collegiate levels has equipped her with a unique perspective and a dedication to developing players into not only skilled athletes but also strong teammates and leaders.

"She was a force as a student-athlete who drove the program to a championship-winning level and I'm excited to see the positive impact she'll have in this leading role."
Dexter holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, both from Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

Lydia Dexter will begin her role as Head Coach immediately, bringing her experience, passion, and commitment to excellence to St. Joseph's College.
