STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College Director of Athletics Chris Willer has announced the promotion of Shaun Clem to Interim Head Alpine Ski Coach. A Frederick, Maryland native, Clem takes the helm of the Monks' program after serving as an assistant coach during the 2024–25 season.

Clem, a 2023 graduate of Saint Michael's College, brings a strong background in both coaching and competition. He has previously coached with the Smuggler's Notch Ski Club and worked on the Killington FIS Women's World Cup course crew. As a student-athlete, Clem captained the Saint Michael's Alpine Ski Club, where he led dryland and on-snow training sessions, organized preseason training camps, and managed team operations.

Clem succeeds Margot Cosentino, the program's first head coach who helped establish the SJC alpine ski teams as perennial contenders in the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Reynolds Division. During her seven years at the helm, Cosentino built the foundation of the fledgling program's success, guiding the Monks to three Ricker Cup titles, four Reynolds Division Championships, and six total appearances in the USCSA Nationals.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to build this program and train the alpine skiers at Saint Joseph's," said Clem. "I want to inspire the next generation of college ski racers to achieve their goals and become better people."

Athletic Director Chris Willer praised the hire: "Shaun has already shown tremendous commitment to our skiing program, and his leadership, technical knowledge, and passion for the sport make him the right person to guide the Monks moving forward. Building on the strong foundation already in place, we're excited to see the program continue to grow and thrive under his direction."

Clem holds a bachelor's degree in neuroscience with a minor in chemistry from Saint Michael's, where he earned multiple Dean's List honors and a departmental award for academic excellence. Alongside his academic and athletic pursuits, he also has professional experience in healthcare and research.
