Monks Suffer OT Loss to Husson

Standish, ME - First-year Julia Ostrowski (Albany, NY) scored and assisted on another goal, but the Monks dropped a 3-2 decision to Husson College in overtime today. Senior KaroleAnne Emery (Parkman, ME) scored the game winner at 78:52 and assisted on the other two Eagle goals.

The Monks struck first as first-year Jessica Baker (Scarborough, ME) netted a pass from Ostrowski at 11:11. Husson evened things with a goal by junior Shawna Bell (Corinth, ME) at 14:00. The teams went into the break deadlocked at 1-1 with St. Joe's holding an 8-4 advantage in shots.

First year Elisha Dorso (Farmingdale, ME) gave the Eagles a 2-1 edge with a goal at 50:24 but Ostrowski made it 2-2, scoring off an assist by first-year Kerrie Boutin (Georgetown, MA) at 62:53. The game remained tied for final few minutes and the squads were faced with fifteen minutes of sudden death overtime.

Emery scored the winning shot at 78:52. Junior Kelly Bocchino (Vassalboro, ME) recorded 11 saves for the Eagles and first year Ashley Tessier (Enfield, NH) had 8 for St. Joe's.

The Monks host Anna Maria on Sunday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM.
