Castine, ME - GR Chad Pulkkinen (Windham, ME)
scored 22 points including 6 of 10 treys, to lead the Monks to an
84-60 win at Maine Maritime. St. Joe's improves to 10-5, while
Maritime drops to 7-7 overall.
St. Joe's set the tone early, building a 26-5 lead with 12
minutes to go in the first half. The Mariners struggled to find
scoring opportunities as the Monks maintained a 20-point lead for
the remainder of the half. The lead swelled to 25 points, 40-15, at
the 4:31 mark and St. Joe's went into the break up 44-24.
The Monks controlled the second half and the Mariners were
unable to break into the 20-point cushion despite scoring 36 second
half points. St. Joe's outscored Maritime 40-36 and shot 51.9% from
the field and 57% from behind the arc for the game.
SO Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, NY) finished with
16 points and 7 assists and SR Colby Emmons
(Portland, ME) had 13 points.
The Mariners were led by Derek DiFrederico with 16 points and
Brandon Hall with 11 points.
The Monks return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 24, taking on
Lyndon State at 7:30 PM.
