Paxton, MA - SR Darcey Ward (Dresden, ME)
scored off a pass from SO Julia Ostrowski (Albany,
NY) in each half as Saint Joseph's College field hockey defeated
host Anna Maria 4-0 on Saturday.
Ward scored what would be the game-winner and put the Monks up
1-0 less than ten minutes into the game.
St. Joe's sealed the victory with three second half goals. SO
Jessica Baker (Scarborough, ME) made it 2-0 at
55:28 and FY Renee Leach (Shapleigh, ME) scored
her first intercollegiate goal off a pass from FY Courtney
Rague (Old Orchard Beach, ME) three minutes later.
With just under four minutes to play, Ward connected for her
second goal of the game off a pass by Ostrowski.
FY keeper Kathleen Simoes (Wakefield, MA)
recorded three difficult saves in her intercollegiate debut.
SO Jillian Kimball (Albany Township, ME), SO
Kerrie Boutin (Georgetown, MA) and FY
Maria Arsenault (Berlin, NH) all turned in strong
performances for St. Joe's.
The Monks play at Fitchburg State on Thursday, September 6th at
