BANGOR, ME - Saint Joseph's (8-3, 3-1 NAC) blanked NAC foe Husson University (2-7, 1-3) on Monday evening, 2-0. Kim Glynn '10 (Danvers, MA) made eight defensive saves and Meaghan Johnson '12 (Portland, ME/Cheverus) made seven stops in net to collect her third shutout of the season. Kayla Nowell '11 (Bridgton, ME) and Kelly Emerson '09 (Vassalboro, ME) provided the offensive punch in the conference conquest.

Fourteen minutes into the game Julia Ostrowski '10 (Albany, NY) was denied by Husson keeper Caroline Bochtler '11 (Turner, ME), who made six saves in the loss, on a penalty shot attempt.

The game remained scoreless until the 34th minute of the first half when Nowell notched her team-leading 14th goal of the season. The goal, which came on a rebound off her own shot that clanked off a post directly back to her stick, was her third game-winning tally of the year. Emerson recorded an assist on the score that saw the Lady Monks take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Nearly six minutes into the second half, Emerson capitalized on a scramble in front of the net off a penalty corner to record her sixth goal of the season and complete the game scoring with St. Joe's in the lead, 2-0.

SJC keeper Meaghan Johnson was aided in the shutout effort by a pair of defensive saves in the contest.

Husson's Krystal Doughty '12 (Lisbon Falls, ME) hit the post on back-to-back shots 13 minutes into the second half.

Saint Joseph's will host Colby College on Thursday, October 16 at 3:30 PM while Husson will entertain NAC opponent Thomas College on Wednesday.
