Nick Perras '09 (Lancaster, NH) scored 12 points for Husson while Blaine Meehan '09 (Winterport, ME) and Jay Uhrin '11 (Winterport, ME) both recorded 11 points in the losing effort. Scott Kissinger '09 (Islip Terrace, NY) had seven caroms to lead his team.

Husson's only lead of the contest came on their first possession when Kissinger hit a jumper off a Brock Bradford '10 (Kenduskeag, ME) pass thirty seconds into the game. Zach O'Brien netted five points and the Monks recorded a 10-2 run in the subsequent four minutes to establish a 10-4 lead. The Eagles trailed by two, 10-8, thirty seconds later when Bradford stole the ball from Eatmon and converted a layup.

The two-point deficit was as close as Husson would come to overtaking the Monks, as St. Joe's went on to shoot 53.1% (17-32), while the Eagles shot just 28.1% (9-32), from the field in the first half en route to posting a 43-20 halftime lead.

Three minutes into the second stanza the Monks rattled off a 15-0 run to take a establish their largest advantage, 33 points, to effectively close the door on any hopes the home team might have of making a comeback.

The final basket of the run, a three-pointer by Rue, was set up by an Elbie Murphy pass after he grabbed his record breaking 288th career steal, which came off a mishandled ball by Husson guard Brock Bradford at the 14:06 mark of the second period.

Murphy's 288 grabs in 87 games gives him a 3.31 steals per game average, which ranks second behind Allen Fields '92, who recorded 237 steals in 70 games for a 3.39 pilfering average. Murphy set the Monks basketball single season records when he collected 126 steals and posted a 4.2 steals per game average in 2007. Murphy's steals per game average that season led all of NCAA Men's Basketball.

Saint Joseph's shot an even 50% (33-66) from the floor, 7-15 (46.7%) from beyond the arc, and converted 17 of 24 (70.8%) from the charity stripe in the win.

Husson countered with a 35.9% (23-64) effort from the field, just 7 of 32 from three-point land (21.9%), and connected on 12 of their 16 (75%) trips to the line in the losing effort.

The Monks will travel to Newton, MA on Saturday December 13th to take on GNAC foe Lasell College at 2:00 PM. The Eagles will play at Bates College on December 19th at 7:00 PM.
