Box Score WATERVILLE, ME - Saint Joseph's improved to 8-3-1 overall with a
3-1 victory over non-conference foe Thomas College (5-8-1, 1-4 NAC)
on Wednesday afternoon. Jennifer
Keaney '13 (Scituate, MA) scored her second
game-winning goal in as many games and Brianna
Jordan '10 (Scarborough, ME) collected a pair of
assists in the victory.
The Monks started the game-scoring early, as
Katherine Chambers '13 (Hampden,
ME) notched her fourth goal of the season just two minutes into the
game. Jessica Needham '11 (East
Bridgewater, MA) set up the play with a crossing pass and was
awarded with her fourth assist of the season.
The 1-0 lead stood until the 50th minute when Julie
Lawrence knotted the game with an unassisted marker, off the post
and past SJC keeper Katye Mayo
'10 (Fairfield, ME), for the Terriers.
Keaney answered the Terrier tally 15 minutes
later when she took a pass from Jordan and
dribbled around TC keeper Jessica Nassetta for the eventual
game-clinching goal. Emily Wight
'13 (Westbrook, ME) scored her first collegiate goal in the
87th minute, with Jordan earning the
assist, to cap the game scoring with the Monks on top, 3-1.
The victory marked the second consecutive game in which
first-year players accounted for all of the Monk goals.
St. Joe's held a considerable 32-3 advantage in shots, 21-2 in
shots on net, as well as a 10-0 lead in corner kicks in the
triumph. Nassetta was active in net for the hosts and made 18
saves.
Saint Joseph's will host Johnson & Wales (7-5, 4-3 GNAC) on
Saturday at 1:00 PM while Thomas is slated to play at
Maine-Farmington at Saturday at 1:00 PM.
