STANDISH, ME - St. Joe's (4-2-1, 2-0 GNAC) defeated Albertus Magnus (3-2-1, 1-1), 3-0, in GNAC Men's Soccer action at Westerlea Way Field on Saturday afternoon. Andre Cushing '10 (Hampden, ME) tallied a goal and an assist in the win, which capped a perfect 5-0 Homecoming Saturday for Saint Joseph's Athletics. Goalkeeper Will Pike '10 (Gorham, ME) made three saves to record his 11th career shutout, which surpasses current Assistant Coach Jeff Yaeger '04 for second all-time at St. Joe's.

The Monks began the scoring as Jack LaFreniere '13 (Alton, NH) scored a goal, his first collegiate tally, 14 minutes before intermission. Cushing recorded an assist on the play.

St. Joe's doubled the lead when Cushing scored his first goal of the season. Corey Grant '13 (Haverhill, MA) set up the senior midfielder with a lead pass towards the net and, when Falcons keeper Gerald O'Connor '10 (Hamden, CT) came out to challenge, Cushing kicked the ball past him to make it a 2-0 game.

Michael Sanfilippo '12 (Walpole, MA) netted his second goal of the season in the 81 st minute to provide the Royal Blue with a 3-0 lead. Doug MacCallum '10 (Hingham, MA) set up the give-and-go play and recorded an assist on the score.

O'Connor made nine saves in net and Jamal Howard '12 (West Haven, CT) recorded three shots for Albertus Magnus in the losing effort.

St. Joe's held a commanding lead in shots (17-8), shots on goal (14-4) and corner kicks (6-1) in the victory.

Saint Joseph's will host non-conference opponent Bowdoin College on Sunday at 1:00 PM. Albertus Magnus will play host to Mitchell College on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
