Box Score

STANDISH, ME - Babson College (6-2-1) defeated Saint Joseph's (3-2-1, 3-0-1 GNAC), 2-0, in a non-conference women's soccer match on Wednesday afternoon at Westerlea Way Field. The Beavers, ranked sixth in the latest NSCAA New England Region Poll, scored a pair of goals near the 70th minute of play to secure the victory.

Ashley Tourso '13 (Glen Rock, NJ) scored the game's first goal after 67 minutes of scoreless soccer. The freshman tallied her third marker of the season off a Amy Festa '13 (Medfield, MA) pass to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.

Babson scored again less than two minutes later on a corner kick by Festa. The first-year player booted the corner set from the right side of the net and the ball sailed past SJC keeper Katye Mayo '10 (Fairfield, ME) into the top left corner.

The Beavers held a slim advantage in shots, 5-3, but the hosts had a 3-1 edge in penalty  corners in the loss.

Mayo made one save in net for St. Joe's, while Babson netminder Sarah Macary '11 (Woodbury, CT) wasn't challenged in the shutout bid and did not record a save for the visitors.

St. Joe's will next play on Tuesday, September 29th at 3:30 PM when the Monks host GNAC rival Pine Manor College. Babson is set to host NEWMAC opponent Springfield College on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
