Box Score STANDISH, ME – St. Joe's (3-1, 1-0 GNAC) defeated Emerson
College (1-2, 0-1), 3-1, in a rematch of the 2009 GNAC Championship
contest at Westerlea Way Field on Saturday. Jack LaFreniere '13
(Alton, NH) registered the game-winning goal and added an assist in
the 2010 conference-opener for both sides.

Barlion '13 (Auburn, ME) also tallied goals for the Monks and
Paul Robins '11
(Cornwall, England) notched a pair of assists against the Lions.
SJC keeper Nick
Campasano '12 (Goffstown, NH) played very well between the
pipes and posted 10 saves in his fourth collegiate start.
Jacob Lawrence '13 (Clifton, VA) scored the lone Lions marker,
with Eric Dabdoub '11 (Monterrey, Mexico) adding an assist on the
64th-minute score. Emerson netminder Noah Price '12 (Apex, NC) made
eight saves against the Monks, who defeated the Lions, 2-1, in the
GNAC Championship last fall.
Happnie opened the game-scoring at the 33:49 mark with his first
goal of the season off a Robins pass. LaFreniere doubled the SJC
advantage nearly four minutes into the second stanza with his
second tally of the year, which was the eventual game-winner.
Robins served as the playmaker on this goal as well, with the
sophomore speedster finishing the play with a ball placed in the
lower left corner.
Lawrence put the visitors on the board with a finish on a
Dabdoub dish up the middle of the field. The sophomore forward
collected the ball off the hop and beat Campasano with a shot to
the lower right corner.
Barlion provided the Monks with breathing room on the board with
his first tally of the year in the 87th minute. LaFreniere set up
the play with a crossing pass and was credited with an assist on
the play.
Emerson held advantages in shots (18-17) and corner kicks (5-4)
in the loss.
Saint Joseph's will play at Husson University tomorrow at 3:00
PM, while the Lions will host Daniel Webster on September 15th at
5:30 PM.
