Box Score CAMBRIDGE, MA – Saint Joseph's College (8-2) swept Lesley University (2-5), 3-0, in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Thursday night.
Despite facing deficits in kills (28-23), assists (27-20) and digs (63-55), the Monks managed to notch their sixth shutout victory of the season with the help of 27 Lesley attack errors and 10 service miscues by the host-Lynx.
Saint Joseph's spread the offense around as three players registered five or more kills in the victory. Sophomore Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) led the way with six kills and added five digs and three total blocks, freshman Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, Maine) posted five kills and nine digs, and rookie Shadai Gosselin (Somersworth, N.H.) tallied five kills, seven digs and a pair of aces in the triumph.
Freshman setter Mariah Hebert (Biddeford, Maine) added a double-double with 18 assists and 11 digs while senior libero Erica Russi (Debary, Fla.) contributed nine digs and sophomore Abbie McPhee (Epping, N.H.) chipped in with seven digs on the evening.
Danielle McDonald led the Lynx with 10 kills while Katrina Stroganoff posted eight kills and 12 digs and Danielle Johnson boasted 26 assists and 10 digs in a losing effort.
Saint Joseph's kicks off conference action this Saturday when the Monks play host to Simmons College (10:00 AM) and Suffolk University (2:00 PM). Simmons and Suffolk will square off at 12:00 PM.
