Box Score

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (12-2-0, 9-2-0 GNAC) defeated Colby-Sawyer College (6-7-0, 6-5-0 GNAC), 4-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Wednesday evening.

THE LEAD

Senior Colleen Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) notched a goal and an assist and Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine), McKenzie Murphy (West Baldwin, Maine), and Emily Thornton (Westbrook, Maine) scored a goal apiece to help the Monks win their fifth-consecutive contest.

THE REST OF THE STORY

Saint Joseph's claimed an early lead when DaGraca netted her 15th goal of the season, off a Sheehan feed, in the 11th minute and the 1-0 edge remained until the 50:33 mark, when Murphy potted her third marker of the year.

The Monks received goals from Sheehan, assisted by Madeline Wood (Madison, Maine), and Thornton, off a Hannah Butler (Melrose, Mass.) pass, seven minutes apart midway through the second stanza to collect a 4-0 cushion.

Colby-Sawyer junior Sam Mitchell (Chester, N.H.) closed out the game with a strike off an Abbie Sansoucy (Douglas, Mass.) dish at the 87:11 mark.

THE KEEPERS

Saint Joseph's freshman Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) picked up the win after stopping all seven shots she faced over 82 minutes and junior Cori Balam (Lyndeborough, N.H.) allowed a goal and made a pair of saves in eight minutes of relief.

Colby-Sawyer senior Oona Bond (Southborough, Mass.) yielded four goals and made five saves in the loss.
