NEWTON, Mass. – Senior forward Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal to help #2 Saint Joseph's College (16-3) unseat top-seeded Lasell College (14-6), 1-0, in the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Monks earn their first GNAC Championship and collect the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer Tournament, which begins next Saturday. The national tournament field will be revealed tomorrow via live video stream on www.ncaa.com at 1:30 PM.

For Lasell, the loss snaps an eight-year GNAC Championship run.

HOW IT HAPPENED

At the 59:14 mark, senior Colleen Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) worked her way around two defenders and delivered a precise right-to-left crossing pass to DaGraca, who was at the six and headed a one-timer past Lasell keeper Angela Zanzari (North Haven, Conn.).

THE KEEPERS

SJC freshman Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) was outstanding in the victory and tied her season high with 10 saves in the shutout. Sanzari posted three saves in the losing bid.

TEAM STATS

Lasell posted leads in shots (17-8), shots on goal (10-4), and corner kicks (7-2) on the afternoon.
