STANDISH, Maine – Johnson & Wales University (8-2-1, 5-0-0 GNAC) blanked Saint Joseph's College (3-6-0, 3-2-0 GNAC), 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats controlled the pace of play but did not hit pay dirt until the 38th minute when senior Hayley Viebrock (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored off a Jordan Restivo (Utica, N.Y.) assist. Senior Caroline Wallace (Old Lyme, Conn.) made it a 2-0 game with her third goal of the year off an Emily DeRoehn (Old Lyme, Conn.) feed at the 48:05 mark and sophomore Skyla Landry (Coventry, R.I.) capped the scoring ledger with an unassisted tally in the 79th minute.

TEAM STATS:

Johnson & Wales held the advantage in shots (29-4), shots on goal (22-0), and corner kicks (8-0) in the victory.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC junior Carly Downey (Yarmouth, Maine) turned away 19 shots in the loss while JWU sophomore (Grandville, Mich.) was untested in the shutout performance.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 5-10-4 all-time versus Johnson & Wales University. The Wildcats have now defeated the Monks in three-consecutive meetings dating back to the 2019 campaign.
