STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (4-5, 4-2 GNAC) suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Colby-Sawyer College (8-2, 5-1 GNAC) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey matchup at the SJC Athletics Complex on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks held the Chargers off the board until the 24:33 mark when junior Courtney Larson (Auburn, Maine) scored off an Aleah Murph (Portland, Maine) feed. Colby-Sawyer doubled the advantage in the 44th minute when freshman Ryleigh LaPorte (Leicester, Vt.) tacked on an unassisted tally.

TEAM STATS:

Colby-Sawyer held the lead in shots (16-3), shots on goal (8-1), and penalty corners (11-6) in the victory.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC junior Kassidy Collins (Pittston, Maine) turned away six shots in the loss while CSC junior netminder Carly Bernard (Swanze, N.H.) stopped the only shot she faced in a shutout performance.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

For the Chargers, tonight's victory over the Monks is the first in program history. Prior to this evening, St. Joe's had defeated Colby-Sawyer in seven-consecutive meetings by a combined score of 28-6.

Saint Joseph's will host Elms College on Saturday in a GNAC contest set to start at 11:00 AM.
