Eagles Fly Past Monks, 5-0

BANGOR, Maine – Husson University (1-0) defeated Saint Joseph's College (0-1), 5-0, in a non-conference field hockey matchup on Friday night. The contest served as the 2023 season opener for both teams.

Teagan Blackie netted a pair of goals for the Eagles while Julia Murch, Allison Drew, and Phoebe Carlock hit pay dirt to account for the hosts' 5-0 triumph.

SJC junior goalkeeper Kassidy Collins (Pittston, Maine) made five saves in the setback while Husson netminder Kimmie Goddard turned away the only shot she faced in the Eagles' victory.

For the Monks, sophomore Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) recorded a pair of shots and senior defender Hannah Michael (Hampstead Falls, N.H.) notched a defensive save.

Saint Joseph's is back in action on Sunday with a non-conference contest at Wellesley College (12:00 PM).
