PAXTON, Mass. – Senior Icaro Vieira (Westborough, Mass.) scored in the 33rd minute to help lift Saint Joseph's College (4-1-1, 4-0-0 GNAC) past Anna Maria College (0-3-0, 0-2-0 GNAC), 1-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer action on Friday night.

SJC junior goalkeeper Liam Foley (Middleton, Mass.) preserved the shutout, and victory, with a diving save on a Hezekiah Adeyeye penalty kick attempt in the 57th minute and finished the night with six saves.

Anna Maria netminder Valtar Santiago turned away nine of the 10 shots he faced in the losing effort.

The Monks held the advantage in shots (20-12), shots on goal (10-6), and corner kicks (5-3) on the evening.

With the win Saint Joseph's improves to 13-0-0 in the history of the series with the AMCATS.

Saint Joseph's returns to the pitch on Tuesday with a home conference game against Emmanuel College. Opening kick-off is set for 6:00 PM.
