Monks Notch Eight in GNAC Matchup with Falcons

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College raced past Albertus Magnus n Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey action at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday Afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks kicked off the first quarter with a goal less than two minutes into the match with a goal from Sadie Tirrell. A minute later the Monks increased their lead with a goal from Abbie Jaques. Maya Waryas knocked one in during the 11th minute of play to boost the Monks lead as they wrapped up the first quarter. The Monks opened the second quarter with another goal from Abbie Jaques, her eighth of the season. Continuing ahead and upping their cushion the Monks saw goals from Kienna Haley, Isabella Littler, and a third of the day from Abbie Jaques.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held a sizeable lead in shots (23-9), shots on goal (15-6), and penalty corners (7-6) in the decisive victory. 

THE KEEPERS:

SJC senior Kassidy Collins made a save in the triumph. Kim McLaughlin saw time in net and received the bulk of the Falcons shots. McLaughlin turned away five of the Falcons six shots on goal The Falcons keeper, Ella Welton, made seven saves on the day.

Saint Joseph's will play at No. 7 Babson College on Monday in a non-conference tilt set to start at noon.
