Box Score WESTON, Massachusetts – Saint Joseph's College (7-7-2, 7-4-1) topped Regis College(4-8-4, 4-7-2), 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer action at Regis on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks dominated possession, but the Pride held the Monks off the board until the 25th minute when freshman Nick Marion (Windham, Maine), assisted by senior Nate Sottak (Belmont, N.H.), netted the Monks first goal of the night.
The Pride kept the Monks from scoring again until the 70th minute of play when junior Griffin Forbes (Manchester, N.H.) increased the Monks lead to 2-0. Sophomore Divin Mpinga (Kinshasa, DRC), assisted by Nick Marion, scored the final goal of the evening at the 84:21 minute mark.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (14-13), shots on goal (7-3), and 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
THE KEEPERS:
SJC senior Liam Foley (Middleton, Mass.) made three saves in the shutout effort while Regis keeper Chris Alcon turned away three shots in the setback.
