Box Score LEWISTON, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (6-4) experienced a 82-73 non-conference setback in their Monday night contest against the Bates College Bobcats (5-5).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Senior Julian Llopiz's game-high 20 points wasn't enough to lead the Saint Joseph's College men's basketball team to victory over Bates. As a team. the Monks shot 36.4% (24-66) for the game, while the Bobcats shot 63% (29-46). The Monks owned a 38-35 rebounding margin. Remijo Wani contributed with 16 points and three rebounds while Silvano Ismail chipped in with 12 points in addition to grabbing four rebounds and two steals.
After some early back-and-forth in the first half, the Bobcats ultimately finished the first half with a three point lead. During the first half, the Monks notched their largest lead of the game, 24-18, at the 10:35 mark. The Monks last held the lead, 33-32, at the 2:29 mark in the first. Entering the second half three points ahead, the Bobcats continued their efforts finishing the game ahead by nine.
STATS OF THE GAME:
Bates pulled off the victory with the help of a solid 63% shooting percentage and a 42.9% three-point shooting performance compared to the Monks 36.4% and 18.2%, respectively.
