Women's Soccer Topped by Chargers, 2-1

NEW LONDON, NH – Colby-Sawyer (3-3-1, 2-1-1 GNAC) defeated Saint Joseph's College (0-5-0, 0-3-0 GNAC), 2-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The conference contest stood scoreless until the 13th minute when Colby-Sawyer senior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) netted an unassisted tally. The Monks fell behind by a second goal in the 58th minute of play but responded with a goal of their own four minutes later by Sydney Gallop (Hermon, Maine) and assisted by Lelia Weir (Bar Harbor, Maine).

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the advantage in shots on goal (5-2) while Colby-Sawyer and Saint Joseph's were even in total shots. The chargers held the advantage in corner kicks 4-1. 

THE KEEPERS:

SJC freshman Ashyn Guerette (Merrimack, New Hampshire) faced no shots on net thanks to the Monks defense. Colby-Sawyer keeper Gabriella Calidonio (Flagler Beach, Florida) posted four stops. 

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the loss Saint Joseph's falls to 5-7-1 all-time versus Colby-Sawyer.
