Box Score STANDISH, ME. - The Saint Joseph's College Monks (11-4, 3-1) defeated the Johnson & Wales Wildcats (3-10, 1-3) 92-64
in a GNAC men's basketball contest on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first half consisted of back and forth play until the Monks began to pull away at the 8:13 mark when they went on a nine point scoring run to bring the score to 33-24. After being briefly interrupted by a Wildcat layup, the Monks wasted no time getting back on the board with another ten point uncontested scoring run. The Monks finished the first half holding tight to their 18 point lead, outscoring the Wildcats 47-29 in the half.
The Monks rode the momentum into the second half, leading by as many as 31 points while holding the Wildcats to 35 points total in the fourth quarter. The Monks posted a 16-7 differential in 2nd chance points in the win.Despite the Monks continued offensive prowess, the Wildcats kept clawing their way back, reducing the Monks' 31 point lead to 28 by the end of the half, holding the score to 92-64.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Silvano Ismail (Portland, ME) notched 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals
- Julian Llopiz (Boston, MA) recorded 16 points and contributed five rebounds, one assist, and a steal
- John Paul Frazier (York, ME) tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, and two assists
- Remijo Wani (Portland, ME) and Tong Maiwen (Juba, South Sudan) both recorded double-doubles leading the Monks in rebounds with 10 rebounds and 13 points each

- Josh Zangerle led the Chargers with 13 points, five rebounds, and four steals
- Sean Duke notched 13 points, three rebounds, one assist, and five steals
