Box Score FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — The Saint Joseph's College (6-4) women's basketball team earned a 68-46 victory over the Salve Regina Seahawks (6-6) on Friday evening in the Monks' first game in the Framingham State University Tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks jumped out to an early 9-0 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 24-13 by the end of the quarter. SJC maintained control in the second, outscoring the Seahawks 16-11 to take a 40-24 advantage into the break.
After halftime, Saint Joseph's continued to build on their lead, scoring 16 points in the third quarter while limiting Salve Regina to 11. This strong offensive showing extended the Monks' lead to 56-35 heading into the final period.
The Monks' solid performance throughout proved to be too much for the Seahawks and was enough to secure the 68-46 win.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Graduate Student Angelica Hurley (Groveland, MA) recorded a game high 26 points, 5 rebounds, two assists, and one steal
- Junior Grace Ramsdell (Wells, ME) notched 11 points. four rebounds, four assists, and four steals
- Junior Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) added eight points with three assists and one steal
- Junior Madison Lebel (Hermon, ME) chipped in with eight points and led the Monks in rebounds with six
LEADERS – Salve Regina:
- Amanda Folan led Salve with 22 points n with 14 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
- Marissa Forino scored six points off the bench with three rebounds and a steal
- Ashey Rourke chipped in with five points
