Box Score STANDISH, ME. - The Saint Joseph's College Monks (9-4, 1-1) defeated the Regis Pride (1-10, 1-1) 90-59 in the second GNAC men's basketball contest of the season on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first half consisted of a few minutes of back and forth play until the Monks began to pull away at the 16:14 mark on a
Remijo Wani (Portland, ME) three pointer followed by a
Silvano Ismail (Portland, ME) basket to bring the Monks lead to seven. The Pride continued to chip away but the Monks continued on, increasing their lead to 20, the largest of the first half with 1:40 left on the clock on a
Braden Camire three pointer.
The Monks entered the second half with a 17 point lead and were able to use it to their advantage to quickly increase their lead to 21 by the 15:54 mark. With 7:54 on the clock the Monks went on an eight point scoring run before the Pride responded. The Monks went on one final scoring run to achieve their largest lead of the game (33) and finish the game 90-59.
STATS OF THE GAME:
The Pride scored 13 points to the Monks 11 off of turnovers. The Monks and Pride were even at 30 when it came to points in the paint while the Pride had more fast break points than the Monks. The Monks held the largest lead of the game at 33 and scored 34 bench points.
