HAMDEN, Conn. – Host Albertus Magnus holds a narrow lead (316) after day one of the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship at New Haven Country Club. The Falcons were paced by freshman Pierson Hester, who is battling for the individual crown after carding a 73 (+3) to place second. Teammate Mason Sassu followed in fourth with a 77, while Nick Piselli sits ninth with an +11.
Emmanuel sits close behind in second with a 321 team score, thanks to strong showings from freshman Sean Fenton, who is in third at +6, and junior Ryan Brunet, who stands sixth at +8.
New England College and Norwich are tied for third at 322. The Pilgrims were led by freshman Emil Elias (+8, tied for sixth) and senior Graham Hassan (+9, eighth). For Norwich, junior Cooper Bertrand set the pace for the entire field with a 71 (+1), while freshman teammate JD Mahoney is in fourth with a +7.
Saint Joseph's (Maine) holds fifth place with a 336 team score, highlighted by freshman Jason Curran, who is 10th overall with a +12. Dean (346), Elms (385), and Mitchell (406) round out the standings.
The championship concludes tomorrow with the final round beginning at 8:30 a.m. at New Haven Country Club.
