Box Score FRANKLIN, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (6-5-0, 5-3-0 GNAC) used a balanced attack and steady pressure to power past Dean College (2-9-1, 1-6-1 GNAC), 4-1, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's soccer action at Grant Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Monks have now won five-consecutive games, the team's longest winning streak since the 2018 side rattled off six-straight victories en route to winning the GNAC Championship.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks struck first in the 14th minute when senior Eliese Perron (South Portland, Maine) buried a shot off a setup from classmate Sydney Gallop (Hermon, Maine). Dean responded just six minutes later, as Kacie Consolini converted the Bulldogs' lone goal of the match.
SJC quickly regained control when sophomore Abbey Laney (Standish, Maine) put away the go-ahead tally in the 21st minute. Less than 10 minutes later, junior Brielle Pigott (Windham, Maine) extended the cushion, finishing a feed from Gallop to make it 3-1 at the break.
The Monks capped the scoring in the 64th minute when Gallop netted her team-leading seventh goal of the season, assisted by Laney.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held advantages in shots (39-4), shots on goal (21-4), and corner kicks (10-2) in the victory.
THE KEEPERS:
St. Joe's sophomore Ashlyn Guerette (Merrimack, N.H.) made three saves in the triumph while Dean netminder Lexi Gerow kept the score close by making 17 stops in a losing effort.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 4-0-1 all-time versus Dean College. The Monks tipped the Bulldogs by a 1-0 margin in Standish last season.
