WATERVILLE, Maine – Senior Sydney Gallop (Hermon, Maine) scored twice to help lift Saint Joseph's College (3-5-0, 2-3-0 NAC) past Thomas College (3-8-1, 2-2-0 NAC), 4-0, in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Gallop finished a feed from senior Eliese Perron (South Portland, Maine). Just three minutes later, Perron doubled the lead off a setup from Bridget Davis (Scarborough, Maine). Gallop struck again in the 56th minute, and sophomore Abby Lloyd (Windham, Maine) converted a penalty kick in the 89th to seal the 4-0 victory.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held the edge in shots (27-5), shots on goal (11-2), and corner kicks (5-3).
THE KEEPERS:
Freshman goalkeeper Jayden Harvell (Presque Isle, Maine) recorded a shutout with two saves in her first collegiate start. For Thomas, starter Emily Rock allowed three goals with four saves in 60:42, while Anna Durost yielded one goal with three stops in 29:18 of relief.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 39-6 all-time against Thomas and extends its win streak to 24 straight meetings versus the Terriers, dating back to 1998.
