STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (10-6) rolled to a 7-1 non-conference win over the University of Maine-Farmington (3-11) on Wednesday evening at the SJC Athletics Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Following an hour-long weather delay, the Monks struck quickly, as senior Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) found the cage just 53 seconds into play off an assist from Ava Markham (Belfast, Maine). Less than four minutes later, senior Kienna Haley (Scarborough, Maine) doubled the advantage with help from senior Sadie Tirrell (Naples, Maine) and sophomore Zoey Lailer (Limington, Maine). Tirrell then extended the margin to 3-0 late in the first half when she converted on a feed from Waryas.
UMF trimmed the deficit early in the third quarter when Gabby Vincentsen scored, but the Monks answered immediately and never looked back. Waryas tallied her second marker with a rising shot to the upper right corner less than three minutes later, Haley followed with her second goal in the 48th minute, and freshman Myia SeeHusen (Corinna, Maine) added another off a Markham setup in the 52nd. Tirrell capped the scoring with her second of the night in the final minute.

Saint Joseph's controlled the match, holding a 16-4 advantage in total shots, a 9-2 edge in shots on goal, and a 10-0 lead in penalty corners.
