STANDISH, Maine – The first Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly accolades of the 2025-26 season have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have earned honors.
Junior guard
Remijo Wani (Portland, Maine) has been selected as the MMBCWA Player of the Week while freshman guard
Davis Mann (Falmouth, Maine) is the MMBCWA Rookie of the Week. A weekly poll of all Maine NCAA DIII institutions is also released each week and the Monks are ranked first having received all seven first-place votes.
Wani, the reigning 2025 GNAC Player of the Year, opened the 2025-26 campaign in midseason form at the NYU Tip-Off Classic. The junior guard averaged 23.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting 51.4% (19–37) from the floor and 40.0% (6–15) from deep across the two-game weekend. He erupted for a career-high 36 points to go with eight rebounds and three assists in Sunday's overtime battle against 2025 NCAA DIII runner-up NYU. Wani set the tone the day before, scoring 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting with six rebounds and three assists in just 16 minutes during a decisive win over SUNY Old Westbury.
Mann averaged 10.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 47.1% (8-17) from the floor, 33.3% (2-6) from beyond the arc, and 75.0% (3-4) from the FT line during Monks' the NYU Tip-Off Classic appearance over the weekend. The freshman guard scored nine points while logging just 17 minutes in the victory over SUNY Old Westbury on Saturday and tallied 12 points and five rebounds in an overtime loss to NYU on Sunday.
