Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Sagehens Rally Past Monks, 65-57

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Pomona-Pitzer College (6-4) used a 23–0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to erase a 17-point deficit and defeat Saint Joseph's College (5-6), 65–57, in non-conference women's basketball action on Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks carried a 42–27 lead into intermission after shooting 50.0% (14-of-28) from the field — including a 60.0% (9-of-15) clip from three-point range — over the opening two quarters.

Sophomore guard Hayden Madore (Hallowell, Maine) opened the third-quarter scoring with a layup to give Saint Joseph's a game-high 17-point advantage (44–27) with 8:58 remaining in the period. The two teams traded baskets over the next four minutes, and senior guard Logan Brown (Brunswick, Maine) buried a three-pointer to keep the visitors in front, 49–35, at the 5:04 mark.

The tide quickly turned, however, as the Sagehens rattled off a game-changing 23–0 run that began with an Emily Lee three-pointer with 4:44 left in the third and ended with an Avery Patricco layup that gave the hosts a 58–49 lead with 7:53 to play.

Saint Joseph's stayed within striking distance and trimmed the deficit to six (60–54) after Brown converted a traditional three-point play with 5:24 remaining, but both teams went cold down the stretch, combining to shoot 18.2% (2-of-11) over the final minutes for eight total points. The Monks' final three points came at the free-throw line.
