WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Eastern Connecticut State University (3–5) defeated Saint Joseph's College (4–5), 65–45, in Shooting Touch Tournament action hosted by Williams College on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Eastern Connecticut opened with an 18–13 edge after one quarter and carried a 29–24 lead into halftime as the Monks struggled from three-point range but stayed close behind interior scoring and second-chance opportunities.
Early in the third quarter, Saint Joseph's pulled within a point, 34–33, on a Logan Brown (Brunswick, Maine) three and an Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) fast-break layup, but the Warriors answered with a 14–3 surge to take a 48–36 lead into the final frame.
The Warriors put the game out of reach in the fourth, outscoring SJC 17–9 while knocking down three triples and limiting the Monks to 21.4% shooting in the period.

Shooting proved to be the difference, as the Monks connected on just 25.4% (16-63) of their attempts overall and 11.1% (3-27) from three-point range, while the Warriors shot 41.0% (25-61) from the floor and 36.8% (7-19) from beyond the arc.
