BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College (4-1-1) defeated Saint Joseph's College (2-5-0), 5-0, in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Bowdoin exploded for five goals in the opening half hour to take control early. Donovan Sinicropi got things started in the fifth minute off a feed from Liam Elias, and Tyler Huck doubled the lead with an unassisted strike. Less than a minute later, Jack Banks made it 3–0 with help from Huck and Mateo Pacelli before Huck notched his second of the day in the 18th minute from William Fowler. Masai Gordon capped the outburst at the 30-minute mark, finishing off an Alden Mehta assist to give the Polar Bears a 5–0 cushion.
TEAM STATS:
The Polar Bears held considerable advantages in shots (35-7), shots on goal (17-4), and corner kicks (15-4) on the way to victory.
THE KEEPERS:
The Monks split time in net with sophomore Brendan L'italien (Douglas, Mass.) allowing five scores with five saves in the first half and senior Logan Davis (Naples, Maine) turning away all seven shots he faced in the second stanza. Bowdoin goalie Oliver King registered four saves in a shutout performance.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 2-6-0 all-time versus Bowdoin College.
