LEWISTON, Maine – Bates College (1-0-0) clipped Saint Joseph's College (0-2-0), 3-0, in a non-conference men's soccer contest on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bobcats kicked off the game scoring in the 16th minute when Luke Cunniffe found the back of the net off a Tomas Alberola feed and the hosts doubled their advantage four minutes later when Alberola set up Lane Foushee for a strike 19:44 into the contest.
Chris Bianco closed out the game scoring with a tally off a Craddock Bridge pass in the 36th minute.
TEAM STATS:
Bates held the lead in shots (23-3), shots on goal (8-1), and corner kicks (7-2) in the team's season-opening victory.
THE KEEPERS:
SJC senior Logan Davis (Naples, Maine) made four saves in his first collegiate start while Bates netminder George Nassar stopped the only shot he faced in a shutout performance.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the result Saint Joseph's falls to 0-13-0 all-time versus Bates College.
