MIAMI – Saint Joseph's College competed in the Florida International University Sprint Invitational at the Doral Aquatic Center on Saturday.
The FIU Sprint Invite uses a non-traditional format designed to help coaches incorporate training into winter break trips. The meet includes a full slate of swimming and diving events, highlighted by a unique tournament-style competition in all 50-yard races (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle). Swimmers advance through three rounds, culminating in a two-person head-to-head final, and each swimmer may enter a maximum of four events.
The Monks competed with NCAA DI opponents Florida International, Tulane, Wisconsin, Georgia Southern, and North Texas as well as DII foe Concordia-St. Paul.
