GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College women's track and field team put together another balanced performance at the USM Husky Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by a school record in the triple jump and multiple New England Division III provisional marks in the jumps and hurdles.

SPRINTS AND RELAYS
Freshman
Emma Jones (Poland, Maine) led the Monks in the 55 meters, placing 20th in prelims with a time of 8.17. Teammate Kaitlin Tallman followed in 8.26, while first-year sprinters
Hallye King (Owls Head, Maine) and
Ruthie Gusler (Phillips, Maine) crossed in 8.33 and 8.44, respectively. Junior
Alexis Cowan (Nottingham, N.H.) rounded out the group in 8.38, giving Saint Joseph's strong depth in the short sprints.
In the 200 meters, junior
Ava Smart (South Portland, Maine) earned a point for the Monks with an eighth-place finish in 27.83. Jones added a time of 28.84, while sophomore
Ellie Leech (Berwick, Maine) ran 29.53 and sophomore
Madalyn Guindon (Saco, Maine) finished in 32.18 as the squad continued to gain valuable race reps.
MID-DISTANCE AND DISTANCE
Sophomore
Cheri Willems (Belchertown, Mass.) represented Saint Joseph's in the 800 meters, placing 11th in 2:48.07.
Freshman
Amber Pendleton (Warren, Maine) moved up in distance and finished eighth in the mile with a time of 6:04.81, scoring a point for the Monks.
In the 5000 meters, sophomore
Haley Williams (Winthrop, Maine) controlled the race to finish in 21:27.12.
HURDLES
Junior
Audrey Bilodeau (Lewiston, Maine) continued her strong campaign in the sprint hurdles. She opened with a 9.30 in the 55-meter hurdles prelims and came back to place sixth in the final in 9.20, hitting another New England Division III provisional standard and scoring three points.
Guindon also doubled back in the hurdles, running 9.95 in the prelims as she continues to build consistency in the event.
JUMPS
The jumps group once again posted some of the top performances of the day for Saint Joseph's.
In the high jump, junior
Breya Whitman (Auburn, Maine) cleared 1.50m to finish second and earn eight points. Freshman
Olivea Miller (Livermore Falls, Maine) and sophomore
Berkley Hutchins (Springfield, Vt.) both cleared 1.40m, placing seventh and ninth, respectively, as the Monks placed three athletes in the top 10.
Sophomore
Ella Labrie (Gorham, Maine) led a large Saint Joseph's contingent in the long jump, placing fifth with a DIII New England provisional mark of 5.02m after a consistent series that included multiple jumps over 4.90m. Cowan added an eighth-place finish at 4.92m, followed by Miller (4.76m), sophomore
Olivia Bean (South Portland, Maine) (4.63m), Gusler (4.56m), Tallman (4.53m), freshman
Natalie Young (Rochester, N.H.) (4.42m), King (4.28m), junior
Samira Mohamed (Westbrook, Maine) (3.61m), and junior
Selena Huot (Biddeford, Maine) (3.58m).
Labrie then capped her meet with a school-record performance in the triple jump, placing third with a DIII New England provisional mark of 10.82m (35' 6"). Bean joined her in the top five with a fifth-place finish at 10.49m (34' 5"), also a DIII NE provisional mark.
In the pole vault, Jordan Huntley, Huot, and senior
Alexia Young (Rochester, N.H.) all competed and took attempts at 1.95m, gaining valuable experience.
THROWS
In the shot put, sophomore
Jemima Kabangu led the Monks with a 10th-place throw of 10.04m (32' 11.25"). Leech followed in 13th with a mark of 9.64m (31' 7.5"), while freshman
Grace Cunningham (Burnham, Maine) (7.76m / 25' 5.5") and junior Haley Lang (7.75m / 25' 5.25") rounded out the event entries.
Cunningham continued her upward trajectory in the weight throw, placing 14th with a toss of 10.68m (35' 0.5"). Hutchins added a mark of 8.75m (28' 8.5"), with Lang (7.69m / 25' 2.75"), Kabangu (7.51m / 24' 7.75"), and Willems (6.34m / 20' 9.75") closing out the Monks' throwing contingent.
