STANDISH, Maine – The 2026-27 Saint Joseph's College men's and women's swimming regular-season schedule has been announced. The Monks are slated to compete in eight regular-season meets before taking part in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship.
Under the direction of second-year Head Coach Fr. Steven Cartwright, Saint Joseph's opens the season on Saturday, October 17, at the sixth annual Husson Relay Meet at Webber Pool in Bangor, Maine. The regular season concludes on Saturday, January 16, when the Monks travel to Castine to face Maine Maritime Academy.
The GNAC Championship is scheduled for February 5-7 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts.
October 17 – 6th Annual Husson Relay Meet
Webber Pool – Bangor, Maine
Hosted by Husson University, the Monks open the season against a field featuring programs from across Maine. Saint Joseph's will compete in a variety of relay events as the Monks begin their second season under Cartwright.
October 23 – University of New England
Harold Alfond Center – Standish, Maine
The University of New England travels to Standish for Saint Joseph's home opener at 6:00 PM. The matchup marks the Monks' first head-to-head competition of the season and provides an early test for both programs.
October 30 – Gordon College
Harold Alfond Center – Standish, Maine
Saint Joseph's remains at home the following Friday when Gordon College visits the Harold Alfond Center for a 6:00 PM meet. The contest gives the Monks another opportunity to compete in their home pool before beginning a stretch of road competition in November.
November 6 – Regis College
Weston, Massachusetts
The Monks travel to Weston for a 6:00 PM matchup against GNAC opponent Regis College. The meet marks Saint Joseph's first road dual competition of the season and gives the Monks an opportunity to compete against a conference program ahead of the winter championship season.
November 20-21 – Chuck Nugent Invitational
Wheaton College – Norton, Massachusetts
Saint Joseph's closes out the fall portion of its schedule at the two-day Chuck Nugent Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College.
Competition begins Friday, November 20, with preliminary races at 10:00 AM followed by finals at 5:30 PM. The meet continues Saturday with preliminaries at 10:00 AM and finals beginning at 4:00 PM.
The multi-session format provides the Monks with an opportunity to compete in a championship-style environment before the semester break.
January 7 – FIU Sprint Invite
Miami, Florida
Saint Joseph's heads south as part of its annual winter training trip. The Monks will depart on December 31 and spend the following week training in Florida before competing in the FIU Sprint Invite on January 7.
The outdoor competition gives Saint Joseph's an opportunity to train and compete in a different environment during the Maine winter before returning north for the final portion of the regular season.
January 9 – Elms College
Harold Alfond Center – Standish, Maine
The Monks return home following their Florida training trip to host Elms College at 11:00 AM. The meet will be Saint Joseph's final home competition of the regular season and one of two meets remaining before the GNAC Championship.
January 16 – Maine Maritime Academy
Castine, Maine
Saint Joseph's concludes the regular season with a 12:00 PM road meet against Maine Maritime Academy. The matchup serves as the Monks' final competition before turning their attention to the GNAC Championship in February.
TBA – Ted Mullin "Leave It in the Pool" Hour of Power
Harold Alfond Center – Standish, Maine
Saint Joseph's will once again participate in the Ted Mullin "Leave It in the Pool" Hour of Power, an annual swimming event held in memory of Edward "Ted" Mullin, a Carleton College swimmer who passed away from synovial sarcoma in 2006.
During the event, swimmers compete continuously for one hour using any stroke while raising funds for the Ted Mullin Fund, which supports sarcoma research and awareness.
February 5-7 – GNAC Championship
Worcester Polytechnic Institute – Worcester, Massachusetts
Saint Joseph's begins postseason competition at the three-day Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship. The meet runs Friday through Sunday at WPI and brings together the conference's swimming programs to compete for the 2026-27 GNAC title.
