WATERVILLE, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (10-7) defeated Thomas College (2-8), 3-0, in non-conference volleyball action at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. The Monks won by set scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-20.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Saint Joseph's powered its opening-set victory with 16 kills and a .268 hitting percentage. Trailing 14-15, the Monks rattled off five consecutive points, including two service aces from sophomore Addison Thomas (London, Ohio) and two kills from senior Greta Mackintosh (Plymouth, Mass.), to take control.
The Monks opened the second set with a 9-2 lead and maintained the advantage throughout. Thomas trimmed the deficit to 13-12, but Saint Joseph's answered with five of the next seven points and secured another 25-19 victory.
The third set featured nine ties and three lead changes before the Monks closed with eight unanswered points. Trailing 17-20, Saint Joseph's regained the lead behind sophomore Maddie Garrett (Euless, Texas), who served the final seven points and recorded two aces during the decisive run.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held the advantage in kills (39-23), hitting percentage (.202-.068), assists (33-20), service aces (9-8) and digs (54-43), while both teams recorded two blocks.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Mackintosh led the Monks with 12 kills on 22 attempts for a .318 hitting percentage.
- Senior Kylie Giakoumis (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded seven kills on 13 attempts and hit .462 while adding a block assist.
- Thomas contributed six kills, a team-high nine digs and three service aces.
- Senior Larisa Comolli (Nashua, N.H.) collected five kills on 12 attempts without an error for a .417 hitting percentage and added seven digs.
- Garrett handed out 17 assists and chipped in four digs and two service aces.
- Junior Riley Greenley (Newark, Del.) tallied 13 assists and four digs.
- Freshman Lindsay Levesque (Arundel, Maine) posted four kills, three digs and a solo block.
- Freshman Sophia Fallon (New Canaan, Conn.) added four kills, four digs, a service ace and a block assist.
- Sophomore Livy McDonough (West Friendship, Md.) contributed two service aces and four digs.
- Seniors Jessica Christman (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Sabrina Arcilla (Rivervale, N.J.) recorded six digs apiece.
LEADERS – THOMAS:
- Lindsay Pool recorded seven kills while hitting .286 and added seven assists, five digs, two service aces and two blocks.
- Addison Lebel contributed seven kills, four digs and a block assist.
- Maddy Normand tallied six service aces, seven assists and four kills.
- Camille Gibson posted a match-high 15 digs and three assists.
- Savannah Lopez added seven digs.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
Saint Joseph's improved to 36-6 all-time against Thomas College and extended its winning streak in the series to 11 matches. The Monks also swept the Terriers, 3-0, in their previous meeting on October 28, 2025.
