STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (13-3, 12-0 GNAC) scored early and often en route to a 23-3 victory over Regis College (2-10, 2-9 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse action at the SJC Athletic Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Saint Joseph's jumped out to a fast start and never trailed. After Regis briefly tied the game at 1-1, the Monks closed the opening quarter on a 5-0 run behind goals from sophomore Zoey Lailer (Limington, Maine), junior Taylor Dumond (Minisink, N.Y.), and senior Celia Melanson (Waterford, Maine) to take a 6-1 lead after one.
The Monks broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring the Pride 8-2 to carry a 14-3 advantage into halftime. Melanson, Lailer, sophomore Ella Highbarger (Kennebunk, Maine), and sophomore Kiley Webber (Freeport, Maine) all contributed during the surge as Saint Joseph's continued to build separation.
Saint Joseph's maintained control in the second half, holding Regis scoreless over the final 30 minutes while adding nine more goals. The Monks scored five times in the third quarter and four more in the fourth to close out the 20-goal conference victory.

Saint Joseph's held commanding advantages in shots (46-12), shots on goal (33-6), ground balls (22-13), and draw controls (14-12), while also forcing 31 Regis turnovers. The Monks converted 25 of 33 clearing attempts and committed just 16 turnovers in the win.
